Dear Family, Friends, and
Supporters of MTT Ministries,
We've been thinking a lot lately about what a blessing it is to be a part of such a rewarding ministry. You may wonder how MTT Ministries got started, so we decided to give you a little background about our ministry.
Our first step toward this ministry was when we both surrendered to full time Christian work. Joyce told the Lord she would do anything and go anywhere He wanted, when she was just eleven years old at a Christian Camp in PA. Bob was a commercial builder and surrendered to full time Christian work when we attended an evangelistic meeting with Hal Web early on in our marriage.
We had no idea what God wanted us to do, so we decided to get more involved in our local church. We became the youth directors/Awana Varsity leaders as well as doing several other jobs in our local church. We learned the concept of training young people to serve the Lord instead of just entertaining them. Our youth group grew from 3 to 25 in one year. Soon we started taking our youth group to Mexico and Canada on mission trips. Then other churches in the area began asking if their young people could travel with us as well. Many in that first group of young people are now serving the Lord in full time Christian work.
This is a ministry we never imagined when we first surrendered our lives to Him. But soon we realized that God was leading us toward taking young people to the mission field to give them a burden for the lost. We asked several mission boards about the possibility of doing this under a board. They all gave the same response. They said they only do long term missions with adults. So several Godly men suggested we start our own board. So we took their advice and MTT Ministries was born. We chose about 12 men who are pastors, missionaries and Christian laymen, who have been in ministry positions for years and who have known our family for years.
MTT Ministries is hard work, since we do a lot of traveling even when we are not leading teams. We travel to different colleges and churches to recruit young people. Also, we are traveling to many different churches presenting our ministry. And it takes a lot of time to make plans for 4 to 5 teams a year. It involves many hours of contacting airlines, missionaries, van rental companies, and places of lodging, etc. Everything must be coordinated and timed just right, so we can go from one church or town to another and have a place to stay, someone to minister with, etc.
The reason we continue on in the ministry even though it can be quite exhausting, is because we believe God has called us to do this, and because we can see Him working in lives everywhere we go. Every year there are from about a dozen, up to as many as 50 people that make professions of faith. We have at least 60 some young people, who have traveled with us, that are now in full time Christian work around the world. We believe we have had a strong influence in their lives because of the on-the-field training, where they learn to work alongside many types of ministries and with many pastors and missionaries.
We believe the training aspect of our ministry sets us apart from other short term mission teams. It is a very exciting and rewarding ministry. If we had settled down on one mission field and worked there the rest of our lives as we originally thought, we wouldn't have reached near as many people with the Gospel. This ministry is a ministry of multiplication. Today many young missionaries are serving in numerous places around the globe as a result of MTT Ministries.
Please let us know about any Godly
young people you know, who would benefit from this
ministry. They need to be at least 15 years old, and can
be high school or college aged young people.
Occasionally we take couples as well. All they need to
do is fill out an application from our website and send
it to us, in order to be considered for a team.
Molding the next generation for Christ,

Rev. Bob Landis
